Dr. Anthony Broughton is a native of Cross, South Carolina, and a distinguished educator, author, and leader dedicated to empowering communities through education and service. A graduate of the highly acclaimed Call Me MISTER program, he earned his doctorate in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina by the age of 29.
 
Dr. Broughton is an Associate Professor of Education with tenure and the Associate Dean of the College of Education at Alabama State University. He serves as the President of the South Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children and previously served on the National Governing Board of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
 
A Fall 2006 initiate of the Gamma Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Benedict College, where he graduated with honors, Dr. Broughton has served the fraternity at every level. He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and, in 2023, was recognized as the Outstanding Alumni Brother of the Year.
 
Known as “Mister B,” he is internationally acclaimed for his engaging children’s videos on YouTube and his culturally responsive, dynamic training sessions for educators and leaders.
